Our new tour combines the fascinating history of the iconic Roman Frontier that is Hadrian’s Wall with the fantasy of the global series Game of Thrones.
The author George RR Martin took his inspiration for his famous novels on a visit to Hadrian’s Wall whilst holidaying in this country. As our award-winning Tour Guide, Rob is particularly skilled at combining history with a theme (Harry Potter tour of Alnwick Castle, Viking tour of Holy Island), not to mention the fact that he is an avid fan of the GOT series, it made sense to provide a tour encompassing both the history and theme of Game of Thrones at Hadrian’s Wall. Rob loves a challenge! So before we knew it, we were ordering yet another costume on the internet. Instead of Potter sweaters or Viking helmets, we purchased a ‘Jon Snow’ outfit, a heavy leather garment and cloak. We couldn’t call him Jon Snow because he has red hair so we decided he was better suited as the unborn child of Jon and Ygritte – well GOT is a fantasy series after all!

Our tour begins at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre over in Hexham with time for lunch and the walk starts next to the Housesteads Visitor Centre and finishes at Twice Brewed Inn. You’ll have to come on the tour to find out more about this beautiful walk that includes some of the best landscapes along the wall. Rob will both inform and entertain you along the way with a surprise at Sycamore Gap, the tree made famous by the film ‘Robin Hood and the Prince of Thieves’.
