Erasmus Living is more than accommodation; It’s about the roommates you live with.
We at Lundgren Tours are very proud to be able to provide tours for a variety of customers who often differ from each other based on demographics, interests and nationalities. The majority of people who come on my day trip experiences of Northern England and Scotland are International Students from universities in Newcastle and Durham. So it’s only natural that we build relationships with a number of student accommodations that serve as the new home for many of our potential customers.
However, there is one student accommodation provider that really stands out and does that little bit extra to make a big impact on the students. I’m sure you can guess by the title what the name of this business is but just to make it crystal clear, one of our favourite student accommodation providers is Erasmus Living.
Erasmus Living is a small business like us. It also shares many of the same values that we have. Not only does Erasmus Living offer rent and inclusive utilities, a safe contract for the semester and some of the essentials that you’ll need in your new home, it also strives to build a community where students can easily make friends, enjoy new experiences and attend socials and activities organised by Erasmus Living.

Lucy Walker, the business owner of Erasmus Living, makes sure that every single student who arrives in Newcastle and Durham receives a personal tour of the accommodation but she is also on hand for advice and recommendations about the neighbourhood they live in. For a lot of students, moving to a new area is an exciting but also a scary decision to make and by letting them know what is nearby, immediately they are comforted and some of that fear goes away. Furthermore, by informing them about differences between our culture and theirs, students will know how to adapt to their new environment, resulting in less of a culture shock.
Most importantly in my opinion, Erasmus Living ensures that the process of students moving into an accommodation with each other is a smooth transition. From previous experience I can tell you how nerve wracking it is to move into an accommodation with people you don’t know. A large part of your university experience is the people you meet and if the first people you meet (aka your flat mates) and yourself don’t get along then it can be a very difficult and frustrating semester/year for the students. Lucy personally introduces new arrivals to their respective new flat mates and suggests ice breakers and activities for them to do straight away. It’s very easy to shy away and stay in your room when you first move in, so by helping with the bonding experience between flat mates, this can improve the students’ experience dramatically.

As Lucy was once an Erasmus Student herself, she understands the challenges faced by new students and will always be there to help. Her dedication to ensuring her tenants have the best possible time at their ‘home away from home’ is why we are extremely happy to be able to work with Erasmus Living. But what is our arrangement with Erasmus Living you may ask?
All tenants of Erasmus Living receive an exclusive discount on all of our day trips around the North of England and Scotland. Just like Lucy, we want to bring people together where they can create memories that they will treasure for ever and this discount makes my trips more affordable so hopefully they will contribute towards their experience of studying abroad at Newcastle or Durham. We have also organised trips in collaboration with Erasmus Living such as the Sunset Trip to the Lake district, which was enjoyed by all who came.

We hope that we can continue to work with Erasmus Living to provide amazing experiences for international students.
Do you know any new international students coming to Newcastle and Durham this year? How about any Erasmus Students that are returning to the North of England soon and need accommodation?
